Moved.

This journal is now closed.

I moved on from LJ and am now blogging at www.dotofblue.wordpress.com. Don't worry, it's still nerdy, just not too fandom-obsessed.

Thank you folks for all the fun I had here. I hope you guys keep on writing!

Werk and Pleh

Went to work today. Was supposed to officially start tomorrow, but apparently they had an emergency of lack of proofreaders, so I went in on a pitch. Yeh.

My Ocarina of Time Zelda special 3DS has arrived! It's soooo pretty! Makes me feel not bad at all for shelling out 200 bucks for it, although now I have 3 DS's . . . er . . . oh well, time to get some retro Zelda on.

More work tomorrow. Man, I have to get used to this 9 to 5 thing again. Not used to after 3 years of pretty much nothing-nothing-cram-cram-cram-cram-nothing-cram cycle.

Holy Crap 3DS Bundle!

Ok, I've warded off the 3DS bug for very long, mostly because 1) I apparently get nauseated if I stare at 3D for more than 2min, and 2) because of #1. Of course, the counterargument is that I can play with the 3D features off, but, um, what's the point of me buying another DSi now for originally 250 bucks?? But now, now, after the sharp price drop, after the myriad of games that're finally starting to show up for 3DS, after a year of fixes (I suppose?) and all the competition with Vita, now, what do we have? The gorgeous 3DS Ocarina of Time Bundle at Bestbuy for $179.99 for Black Friday. Say WHAT?? I am soooo tempted now. I might become one of those crazy door breaker people at dawn on Friday, but I suspect they only carry like, 1 of those and will be grabbed by someone faster than me, for sure. Also, rumor has it that it's already sold out online, so.... um... hmm.

But the Zelda edition is soooooooo pretty!!!!!!!! Also, it looks like every game franchise I actually buy (Cooking Mama, Zelda, Mario, Layton, other RPGs) are all going to 3DS and are not backwards compatible in the DSi gen. I have to eventually buy one if I want to play Professor Layton more. (And I totally do want to play Professor Layton more.) Who knows, maybe if I turn the effects down a bit I can still see 3D but not kill my eyes or something.

ALso, I just noticed that, in order for you to play the Paper Mario series, you have to own 4 different consoles. What the fuck? They are all great games, I'm sure. I can personally attest for the first two, although the very first one is far superior. But really Nintendo? If I got into the series later I have to go back and buy 4 different consoles??? I guess with the digital download thing it's less of a hassle because you can just play on the Wii, but, damn.

Jobby!

Hey guys!

I have a job.

:D :D :D

Well, ok, I haven't received the paperwork yet - the official letter's in the mail, so I guess in between the mail getting here and me receiving it something could go terribly wrong and I will end up not having the job, but the chance of that is fairly slim. So. I most likely have a job. Boyfriend was making fun of me worrying about jobs and then snag one in this economy with a liberal arts degree within 3 months, said it's the most ridiculous success story ever. Well, I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. Will celebrate properly when I received the official paper, because nothing counts until then. (Plus, boyfriend offered to take me out to dinner, but he has late classes today, so that'll have to wait until at least tomorrow.)

In other news, we bought a turkey and it's time to make Thanksgiving preps. :)

Comp Fixed!

I fixed it. That's right, instead of sending it to ASUS and then spend money on the shipping when it's just a software error, I decided to break out my recovery discs and give it a try. Turns out it's a critical boot error. I think it's the boot/bcd file that's corrupted, and so the only thing I could do was to get down and dirty with the command prompt. Boyfriend said I should've been an engineer, because even he had given up and told me to send it in. Let's just say folks: Google is your best friend.

So I did a reboot and a clean reinstall, and now I'm up to date with all those damn Windows updates (especially Service Pack 1 - Jesus C no wonder it took some people hours to update this damn thing). I'm going to hook up my external HD and put all the data I saved back - mostly my iTunes music selection. Now I'm waiting for Steam to d/l my gigantic 16gig Sims 3 collection. Ugh, it's great to have my computer back but it's not that great to lose all my game data. Oh well.

I'm just proud that I fixed this thing myself. :D

I'm . . . really not cut out for writing a lot of words very quickly

I'm soooo behind on NaNo. I mostly blame my part time job and the whole hoopla with interview and other crap, but yeah, only about 1500 words so far. And that took me 4 hours I think, on the first day in the sprint rooms, because I have to edit everything and actually think it through before anything goes on paper. Just the way I write I suppose. So . . . winning NaNo? Not bloody likely this year.

Still, I probably should stay in the sprint rooms and write something. What the heck.

Interview

Just finished my interview. Is now a nervous wreck. Oh, and my NaNo is put on hold until probably later today and tomorrow, because I can't concentrate. Man, 3rd day and I'm already behind. This sucks. I guess I have to work extra hard over the weekend with the sprint rooms. 5000 words is a lot to catch up on. But, well, I think interview/job comes first. Hopefully I'll hear back next week. Hopefully.

Eeek!
